Baptist Health Sunrise Hospital hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of the new facility. The planned seven-story, 340,000-square-foot facility is expected to open to patients in 2029, expanding access to care for residents of Sunrise and western Broward County. The hospital is designed as a modern, future-ready campus incorporating advanced medical technology, sustainable design features and a focus on patient-centered care.
The hospital will feature AI-enabled clinical systems, robotic-assisted surgery and digital integration with the broader Baptist Health network. The technology is intended to support faster clinical decision-making, more precise treatment and a more seamless patient experience. The building’s flexible infrastructure is designed to adapt as new healthcare innovations emerge.
Planned features of the hospital include:
- 100 inpatient beds once at full capacity, including 10 critical care beds, with room to expand
- A 30-bed emergency department with three triage areas and 24/7 emergency care
- Four surgical suites with robotic-assisted capabilities, with capacity for future expansion
- A 25,000-square-foot medical office building for outpatient and specialty services
- 1,080 parking spaces across a five-story parking garage and surface lots
- A 15-acre conservation easement to protect nearby wetlands and local biodiversity
